More truck parking on the same rest area

At night, trucks stand on the hard shoulder because there is not enough room. The area is there, it is just lying flat.

Why the area overflows at night

A rest area is half empty by day and too small at night. Expanding means land outside the built-up area, and that is expensive and slow.

The hard shoulder becomes a parking space

Anyone who finds no space parks in the entrance or the exit. That is dangerous for everyone.

Our answer Four levels instead of one. The same area holds a multiple of the spaces, with no new sealed ground.

The load stands unprotected

Curtain-sided trailers in an open lay-by are a known target.

Our answer Access-controlled and enclosed. The vehicle does not stand beside the access road but inside the facility.

Charging needs room and power

Electric trucks need charging points, and charging points need area again.

Our answer A charging point at the parking space, on every level. Load management spreads the power across the standing time.

What changes on the site

  • More spaces, same area

Four levels instead of one. Your yard holds a multiple without a single square metre being added.

  • No new land outside the built-up area

Construction is on what is already sealed. That saves the compensation measures and the debate about them.

  • The load is secure

Access-controlled and enclosed instead of on the hard shoulder or an open lay-by.

  • Charging at the space

A charging point at every space, and load management spreads the power across the night.

  • The access road stays clear

Vehicles stand inside the facility instead of in the entrance and exit.

  • Shunting disappears

Straight in, step out, done. Around 15 minutes per vehicle, every day, on every run.

Two questions from operators

What about planning permission?

A structure on a rest area is not the same thing as a car park.

Our answer Tower and Stack differ clearly here: the open structure is simpler in building terms than the enclosed building. Which route works at your site is settled in the concept.

Will the drivers go along with it?

Anyone arriving at night wants to sleep, not learn a system.

Our answer Drive in, step out, sign in by login or QR code. Calling the vehicle up in the morning works the same way.

How many spaces are you short of at night?

Send us the site plan and the occupancy figures. We will assess, without obligation, what is possible on the same area.
